Family Conflict

We are born into families and we usually die surrounded by family.  Yet, getting along with and communicating in a family can be very challenging.  We do tend to hurt most those who are close to us.  Part of this is familiarity and easily taking for granted the love of those we live with.  We may also have unresolved conflicts and issues from our family of origin that we project onto our current family members.  But communication and family cohesiveness can be increased, along with conflict being reduced.

According to Deepak Chopra, three things that can be applied immediately are to increase:

·       Attention

·       Affection

·       Appreciation

When these three are generously applied to your partner and children, family satisfaction increases.  Through family therapy more can be learned about how to shift negative patterns of relating into mote positive ones.
