We live in a society where
childhood trauma and abuse, unfortunately, is abundant. Children are often sexually or physically
abused. They may be neglected or
unwanted, the product of teen parents who are too young to care for the demanding
needs of a baby. This abuse or neglect
leads to emotional trauma for the child.
The painful memories often live in each cell of the body. It’s as if the child has lived in a war zone
with the home being the battlefield.
This results in extreme stress for the child. Even after he or she grows up, the residual
effects of the trauma live on. This can,
however, be worked through and processed.
It takes courage to heal but the freedom is well worth it. Oftentimes, a survivor
of abuse becomes the most
compassionate of healers themselves; a real diamond found among the rocks.
