Career Counseling

Two big choices that we make in life are finding a suitable partner that contributes to our happiness and choosing a line of work we find satisfying and meaningful.  If we haven't discovered what the latter is then it can be helpful to explore our interest, our temperament, and our abilities.

Knowing what our academic strengths are can also be valuable.  If a person is in college but hasn't decided on a major, identifying the courses that one enjoys and excels in, is the best place to start.  Our interest always indicate the areas we can explore.  There are also some good psychological test that correlate temperament and interest.  This can be a resourceful tool that can be utilized.  Knowing one's preference can also be helpful.  For example, ask yourself the following:

1.  Do I prefer to work indoors or outdoors?
2.  Would I prefer to be a part of a big corporation or would a small business be more suitable.
3.  Do I prefer working alone or with others?
4.  What are my unique talents?
5.  When do we lose all track of time?

This last one indicates that we are in the realm of personal excellence, thus leading us to our career.
